The Search for Satoshi Nakamoto: Chapter VI: Connections

In the last chapter, we talked about the possibility, that the Hal Finney is the creator of Bitcoin. In this chapter, we are not going to be far from this topic, in fact, we are going to discuss more context. This time, it will be about the connection between two already mentioned suspects Hal Finney and Dorian Nakamoto. The two suspects who surprisingly lived in the same city and, also, not so far from each other.

Hal Finney

As you already know, Hal Finney was a computer scientist and a cryptography pioneer before has the Bitcoin been created. He was supposedly the first person, apart from Satoshi Nakamoto himself, who used the Bitcoin site. He was filing bug reports and trying to improve the site.

Dorian Nakamoto

While the journalist Andy Greenberg from Forbes magazine was investigating the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, it was found out, that a person named Dorian Nakamoto, née Satoshi, lived just a few blocks away from Finney. His family house faced the termination of the contract from a bank and the senior citizen quickly became a victim of the rough financial climate in USA.

The Connection

Dorian is therefore most possibly the person, fictional identity of Satoshi Nakamoto was created according to. The coincidence, that Dorian, née Satoshi Nakamoto, own a house just two blocks away from Hal Finney is too unlikely to be ignored. The old friendly pensioner who has the house taken from him by the bank, is a suitable person to become a symbolic figure of a financial renaissance in the name of all the victims of the modern financial system.

Unfortunately, this is not a proof, that Hal Finney was a real Satoshi Nakamoto, but at least he must have told the “real” Satoshi about his neighbour Dorian. In the past, a series of analyses have been done, to compare the handwriting of Satoshi Nakamoto and Hal Finney. The result was that Hal’s handwriting is the closest one of all the suspects, including of candidates proposed by Newsweek, Fast Company, New Yorker, Ted Nelson and Skye Gray. Journalist Andy Greenberg suggested, that Finney probably wrote in the name of Satoshi Nakamoto, or used Dorians identity as a fake one.
